The last thing that a commercial website should do is admit that it doesn’t have all of the answers and provide readers with the means to find those answers.

But what the heck, we’re just not very smart sometimes. Plus, we think that you’ll like us better if we let you discover that we’re only telling you the truth. If you love something, set it free…yaddah yaddah yaddah…

Anyway, there are three major ways to find out about things on Teh Interwebz: do a general search (we hear that there’s this thing called Google which is the bee’s knees), browse forums, and (gasp) talk to real people.

The general search has its ups and downs. It depends a lot on the terms that you use; putting in “Bodog” or even “Bodog review” will bring up a lot of sites that are paid to say that Bodog is awesome (which is true, but that’s not the point). Putting in “Bodog Scam” will bring up a lot of people who have a chip on their shoulder about Bodog, so you get the opposite extreme (and as we’ve said, many of the loudest critics have dug their own hole by not understanding the rules — we see that all the time with online slots). The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

The forums are much more specific and authentic, and often much more timely (sometimes you can’t tell whether a website review was written yesterday or five years ago). It may be difficult to find forums that have addressed the specific sportsbook or online casino USA that you’re interested in, and starting your own thread and waiting to hear people’s responses can often be a bit more time-consuming and frustrating than you want. Plus, there’s still plenty of the ‘paid endorsement versus unreasonable criticism’ problem. Still forums are an excellent way to get closer to the truth than you’ll be from simply doing a search.

You’ll get a much more personal idea of experiences with the sportsbooks if you actually talk one-on-one with people who have played there. However, keep in mind that personal is precisely that: personal. People aren’t naturally objective creatures, and one very bad experience may make a bigger impression than ten years of solid service. Still, it’s much more convincing than a dozen ad-sponsored websites…uh, like ours. Maybe you should forget we said anything! :)
